Humboldt,Mendocino and Trinity to receive state funds for enforcement against illegal grows, water diversions and organized crime

At a virtual news conference tomorrow morning, Northern California Senator Mike McGuire and local government leaders will host a virtual news to announce "significant state investments to support rural counties as they increase enforcement to combat large/unpermitted cannabis agricultural operations where there are illegal water diversions, operations threatening endangered fish species, environmental degradation or presence of organized crime. "

The funds will be "strategically invested in three rural Northern California Counties - Trinity, Mendocino and Humboldt - all of which have been adversely impacted by large, unpermitted cannabis grows over the past several years," according to a press release from Senator McGuire's office.

"There are dozens of sites in these counties where organized crime organizations have taken hold and are actively managing growing sites. The active presence of these organized crime syndicates has brought enhanced crime and violence to rural communities along with severe environmental damage to natural landscapes and watersheds."
