"I thought I would call and tell you that it is Miles Slattery that is basically telling Chief Watson what to do and who to hire and who to fire and who to put on administrative leave."

After my last two EPD posts, I was in the middle of writing another post about the "rot from the top."

Just now I was contacted by someone. What this person shared with me only reiterated what I suspected about the City of Eureka's mishandling of the "EPD texts"; a situation created by the City of Eureka, poor choices and ineffective leadership.

My previous posts already covered the lack of morale at EPD and how officers feel about EPD Chief Steve Watson.

This message was from someone, who like me, is in the know about the legal, business and political community. I am keeping that person's identity anonymous for several reasons.

"I thought I would call and tell you that it is Miles Slattery that is basically telling Chief Watson what to do and who to hire and who to fire and who to put on administrative leave. He is the one that is calling the shots and Watson is allowing this to happen. That is what is demoralizing, on top of everything else; everything over at EPD. I thought you needed to know because this is confirmed from two different officers. Two different times where Miles Slattery literally intervened telling the Chief what to do."

This should come as no surprise to those who know how things "work" and are "handled" in Eureka and Humboldt.

Who is telling Slattery what to do? Is he even being supervised? Who is in charge at Eureka City Hall?

The former Humboldt Herald crowd, certain local media and others went after former Eureka City Manager David Tyson and certain people who were allegedly behind him. Now the same people stay silent about Slattery and who is allegedly making decisions at Eureka City Hall.

If you want to fire anyone, start at Eureka City Hall. Hold every Eureka City Council member, past and present, accountable. Every funder of these elected officials and the broken, entrenched systems is responsible. Politicians and the same good ole funders are behind candidates for every election. They don't care as long as their needs are met and they profit. Both on the left and right reward incompetence and their cronies.

If you checked the texts of every Eureka City elected official and department heads, what would you find? Remember Rob Holmlund and Alanna Powell? Those two were exposed and you really think certain people had no idea?

The rest of the cowardly local media, their owners and publishers are cowards. Their political affiliations are irrelevant because they play both sides. Multiple conflicts of interests in ownership and who contributes and writes for certsin media in a small town where six degrees of separation would be an improvement.

If other local media do follow up on my last two EPD posts, like they often do on news I scoop, break, report and investigate; will it be with a spin and PR for those I expose. Let's see how they cover the Meftah firing, the investigation status and Miles Slattery and City of Eureka.

The rest of the local media and their PR and enabling of the broken, corrupt good ole boys and gals and selective coverage has been pointed out by the community; in person and comment sections.

Investigative reporting isn't being done by other local media; despite the constant praise heaped on them by their select groupies who are mostly anonymous and the same few people. These groupies even give credit for news covered elsewhere first because they have an agenda and a bias.

There maybe the occasional, once in a blue moon article in other local media but it is always about some church or a group and when it is safe. They never take on the politicians, the local power and money, the courts and ignore stories because it would have personal or financial consequences.

They are used to their cushy jobs and collect a paycheck by stroking egos of people and ignoring news that is inconvenient to those in Humboldt who are the problem and preventing Humboldt from moving into the 21st century.

Unlike the rest of the media, I have been present at places, am out and about, know exactly who in government and in this community meets with whom. I know and am aware of the two faced liars, back stabbers and players and what they are saying about me or anyone else.

EPD lost two excellent officers because of good ole corrupt, backstabbing, weak, pathetic "so called leaders" and those who support and enable the bullshit, broken down "Humboldt way."

The opinions of police haters, disgruntled local criminals, their families, friends , people on Facebook and in the community who heard third hand gossip is irrelevant. Facts matter. I have personal knowledge and observations of almost two decades in Humboldt and have covered court and crime regularly for 7 years.

I am out there day and night. I watch what happens. I see what EPD officers deal with daily and how they conduct themselves. I see them in court and in the community. I know who the bad apples are and who the good officers are.
