Called the N word by a loser who was stealing half a block from Eureka City Hall

 

Recognize the area? Half a  block from Eureka City Hall, across the street from the Humboldt jail on one side and across the street from Times Standard office on the other side. There are several law offices and businesses around this parking lot.

The eyesore  where this happened is behind the empty building that used to be the office for former insurance agent John Ford. Bums, addicts, drunks hang out there all day and night.

There is a dumpster and recycling bin in the alley which is between 5th and 6th and runs from J to K.

Maybe if the business that owns the dumpster would lock it, there wouldn't be a constant parade of drunks and drug addicts pilfering through the dumpster, casing the area and trying to get into other offices.

Just in the last month, I have had encounters with at least 6 beligerent, mouthy bums yell and confront me. 

Today, a hooded miscreant yelled the N word at me, threw over the recycling bin with trash all over the parking lot because his attempt at alleged vandalism, stealing and trying to case an office was thwarted by my voice. "What are you doing?"

I don't call EPD for most of these incidents because they are short staffed, the bums aren't afraid of the police because of the idiotic no consequence laws. And with most of the police officers I trust gone and chased away by weak EPD leadership and the pathetic Eureka City Council, I no longer feel comfortable playing roulette with what EPD officer will show up and  no longer believe EPD can protect me.  

What does work is that the miscreants dont like hanging out when there are people watching them. They do not like being questioned about their illegal behavior.

Eureka City Hall has failed to provide the manpower, the support and enforcement for EPD. They can have all the Eureka Municipal Codes they want but without enforcement and consequences; it means nothing.

People are all up in arms about lawsuits against a proposed housing project and about parking spots. Show the same outrage and concern against crime and what affects your livelihood. Public comment, write letters and email City Hall instead of posting on Facebook. 

What the City of Eureka should be sued for is the unsafe living conditions and cost to every business for erecting fences so they dont have piss, needles and trash all over their property. All the PR about Uplift and clean ups is smoke and mirrors. Police cleaning trash instead of public safety is dumb decisions by incompetent, activist politicians.

I don't want to trip over bums going to the grocery store, Target or to support a local business and restaurant.  I want to feel safe to walk during the day and at night. I and others should feel safe at work and our homes. No one should have to clean up the mess outside their homes and offices left behind by angry, racist bums with no motivation to change their lives.

Want the entire County and more of the 4th District to smell like piss, have bums sleeping in front of every office and building, criminals yelling at people daily, then be stupid and vote for someone like Natalie Arroyo for Supervisor. The problem is I and others have to live with your ignorant choices.

This is not an endorsement for Virginia Bass. She needs to be replaced. 

Arroyo is one of the 5 current Eureka City Councilmembers and it is their shitty lack of action and lack of leadership that makes a pig sty look cleaner than Eureka. Arroyo is also one of the five cowards who allowed "protestors" to yell F the police and mark up the city with disgusting graffitti and vandalism to score political points with their NIMBY supporters. If Arroyo is proud to be in the Coast Guard, her actions would be different.  Arroyo has zero experience owning or running a business. 

Eureka is not business friendly. Eureka is not safe.  Eureka government is a joke.

The 4th District and Eureka need an elected official who is not funded by the good ole boys and gals from the left or the right.  Now that would be progress and progressive; not someone with a label who is beholden to the establishment and funders who have kept Eureka stagnant for decades. Not someone who is propped by the activist, the same faces and decades of "local media" writing fluff pieces for the people they should hold accountable.
