St. Bernards and now Fortuna with the "but he is from a good Humboldt family" bs

Parents from Humboldt "good families" should teach their son to be a man and respect women. "Good families" do not let their son use drinking as an excuse for his pervy behavior.

Dressed in white, several students from Humboldt High Schools organized walkouts, from what has been reported as lack of support by Fortuna High and another high school regarding alleged sexual assaults. 

Report of an alleged sexual assault on a Fortuna High school student by another student  took place in August at Centerville Beach but was only reported on September 23 to HCSO. Another alleged assault on another high school student by a fellow also occurred. Has that been reported to law enforcement and is it being investigated?

The Fortuna High School female student faced the typical Humboldt backlash of "he is from a good family", the boy made a mistake, he was drunk bs. 

If there are more alleged victims, the investigation should be thoroughly done by law enforcement.  

There needs to be checks and balances the investigation isn't influenced by "Humboldt connections" Community pressure discourages victims from coming forward.

Same attitude when I reported an incident in the St. Bernard's locker room. When intimidating me didn't work in private and on Facebook, the parents asked First District Supervisor Rex Bohn to see if I would take the post down as "a favor" to him. I did not.

How many times have Fortuna High and local schools made headlines for scandals and inappropriate behavior?

It isn't a staffing problem. It is a community problem of certain people and certain Humboldt families feeling entitled to preferential treatment. It is problem that creates convicted rapists like Kailan Meserve.

Meserve isn't the only example of a bad seed from a "good local family". "Good family" according to who? Your morals and actions define good not your money or so called Humboldt status (which for most is achieved by destroying anyone outside the petty, psychophant, cover up for each other circle).

Outside the tiny Humboldt bubble, no one cares about  your self proclaimed "good family" status.

 Most businesses here would not survive without pot money and government subsidies and most of you have used pot money and government subsidies to get established. So get off your high horse about your so called wealth or success.

Teens have to organize a walkout because the adults in this community failed to protect them.

Statement from HDSO President Jamie Barney on High School Walkouts:

“As the President of the Humboldt Deputy Sheriffs’ Organization, and more importantly as the father of three daughters, I stand with the Humboldt County students this week speaking up and using their voices to condemn sexual assault in all forms - especially against girls.  

Right now, Humboldt County has a law enforcement staffing crisis leaving over 20 positions unfilled including a vacant position for an investigative detective dedicated to investigating crimes like sexual assault, and a vacant position whose job it would be to patrol our county beaches, like Centerville. 

Our members get up every day, give everything they have, and are working 12 hour shifts as well as overtime to fill gaps during the staffing crisis, because like these brave students, we live in this community and want to do everything we possibly can to prevent crimes like sexual assault from ever happening.”
