"John, a lot of people will be mad at you, they want to sweep it under the rug." Since when has people being pissed at me stopped me from reporting and providing information to the public.

On July 26, some of the local media reported that a 9 year old boy was found unresponsive in the Ingomar Club pool. Humboldt Bay Fire, Eureka Police Department and HCSO Chaplain responded to the medical emergency. The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Did you hear anything about the incident after that initial post in the media? Any press release about the autopsy? Any information from the Ingomar?

The Ingomar is a private club. Did a member sponsor this event? Unless DHHS is a member and if so, the public should know.

The following information is what the foster mother of the 9 year old boy told people in the community. It is not an "official report." The sources she shared the information are trustworthy.

The foster mother has three boys. The 9 year old was not related to the other two children. The foster mother may lose her license. She should.

Social Services had an ice cream social at the Ingomar Club for foster children. After eating ice cream, the 9 year old went into the pool, on his own, with no supervision. The foster mother was busy/occupied with the other two kids.

There were two lifeguards on duty. According to the foster mother,they were not paying attention. There were no life jackets provided. The 9 year old had been in the shallow end of the pool. Whether he was at the time of the medical emergency; it was unclear from what was shared. The 9 year old "drowned" were the words used.

According to people who know the birth mother, she is a  "druggie" and is mad at the social worker. The father is "crazy" and may also be on drugs.

"Why is the birth mother mad at the social worker?" said one person. "Her children were taken away for a reason."

The Ingomar Club has quite a few members who are lawyers. I am sure there has to be at least member who is a public relations professional. The Ingomar's handling of sensitive situations is pathetic. Remember the alleged sexual harassment lawsuit filed by an employee of the Ingomar Club?
