In the dark of the night, Officer Mark Meftah is fired

In January 2018, EPD Officer Mark Meftah was Officer of the Month. In 2021, he was one of two EPD employees put on administrative leave.

Today, as a part of my ongoing investigation, I learned Officer Meftah is no longer in Humboldt. Officer Meftah moved to Ohio three months ago. Officer Meftah had previously worked in law enforcement in Ohio.

I also learned today that in July 2021, EPD Chief Steve Watson called Officer Meftah on a Saturday and asked him to report to work on Monday at Eureka City Manager Miles Slattery Office. Officer Meftah could not be there.

EPD was aware Officer Meftah was not in Humboldt. They asked him to report to work on September 17 with duties to be assigned on arrival. When he did not show up; he was fired for failure to report to work.

So, knowing he is out of town, they ask him to show up for work, setting him up to be fired?

EPD Officer Matt White is still employed at RPD. Why? No one wants to work with White because they do not trust him.

Only two officers made the headlines. Why?

I went over several reasons and raised questions for months. The shit Sacramento Bee agenda based drivel backfired on the idiot who wrote it and the anonymous coward who "leaked" the selective texts.

Officer Meftah and Sgt. Rodrigo Reyna-Sanchez were placed on administrative leave on March 17, 2021 and on March 19, 2021 they were suspended, stripped of their badges, guns and all police powers. Then they were banned from being at EPD unless they were with an escort.

Sgt. Rodrigo Reyna-Sanchez is still on administrative leave. Sgt. Sanchez has an attorney he found on his own. Had he not, there were a few lawyers who contacted me and offered their services to represent both him and Officer Meftah. Some lawyers were from out of the area. People regularly tell me how Sgt. Reyna-Sanchez and Officer Meftah helped them.

The last follow up I did with the City of Eureka regarding the EPD texts investigation was in June 2021. It is now September 2021. I stopped because they provide no information. The City of Eureka has released nothing on their own. I have been the only one to follow up and listed below are several exclusives and many posts.

What has the rest of the local media done besides a cursory follow up on news I broke first and regurgitating the Sacramento Bee poorly done article which was two measly screenshots and a lot of sensation.

I contacted Officer Meftah. His response is in a separate post. I have reached out to EPD Chief Steve Watson and Eureka City Manager Slattery.

Mr. Slattery responded,"Hello John, The text investigation is still pending and Mr. Meftah’s status is a confidential personnel matter. When the investigation is over, thoroughly reviewed and conclusions made, the City will prepare and announcement. Thank you, Miles."
