Markis Shirley's fate is in the hands of the jury. They were given the case around 4:30 on September 23. Shirley's attempt to enter a plea last minute did not work out. He had numerous chances to do so before. The jury was told about Shirley's prior conviction.
Judge Christopher Wilson is presiding over the trial in one of Shirley's cases; charges include robbery and assault. Three others are "trailing." Shirley has 29 cases in the system.
Deputy District Attorneys David Moutrie and Shelley Small are the prosecutors for the trial. Mr. Zach Curtis is Shirley's attorney.
On 9/24, they deliberated all day. No verdict. Notes/testimony readback requested.
