Two additional cases of COVID 19 confirmed today

Two additional cases of COVID-19 were confirmed today bringing Humboldt County’s case count to 57.

Deputy Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Josh Ennis said, “This small increase serves as a reminder to residents that the virus is still circulating in the community and that we all have a continued responsibility to decrease unrecognized transmission as the county begins to move into Stage 2.”

The following transmission information is based on the most recent data available for all confirmed cases:

Travel-Acquired: 20
Community Transmission: 11
Under Investigation: 2

Total new positive cases confirmed on May 9: 2

  • Total number of hospitalizations: 5
  • Total number of recovered cases: 54
Total number of people tested by Public Health Laboratory: 1,990
Total number of people tested by all other sources: 1,053

After receiving additional supplies, the Public Health Laboratory currently has a capacity of approximately 1,500 tests and can process about 65 samples a day with an approximate turnaround time of 48 to 72 hours.
