"You are helping me keep up with issues of importance to me. You are fulfilling a service that the other local journalists fall short on."

There are many encouraging and positive messages I receive every day, in person, email or social media. Sometimes like today, I share these messages.
I am very grateful for all my readers, supporters and advertisers.

I received this message on Facebook today:

"That’s great I’m glad he got arrested! Keep doing what your doing we need more people like you in this world!"

And another message via email:

"Hi John,

I’ve been reading a good bit of your Wordsworth blog over the last couple of years. I read it  a few times a day now. I live in Arcata and I spend a few hours a week in eureka.  Thanks for reporting on crime. You are helping me keep up with issues of importance to me. You are fulfilling a service that the other local journalists fall short on.

I’m sorry about your incident with the aggressive individual on 5th and I.

The aggressiveness has been bad in Arcata since covid started and that is when new individuals began to continually arrive in town. Street people exhibiting obvious mental illness and or drug use.

I might also add that aggressiveness has been building for even longer for other reasons. I would not blame any one issue for the problem, but the problem is getting worse.

I have been calling the police a lot for the last couple months. It seems to help the neighborhood some. Maybe we can beat this back some.

It’s good to see you on the blog, outside taking pictures. Thanks for fighting for civilization!"
