She was told her preliminary hearing could "get bumped" at the last hearing

Murder suspect Pamela Millsap's preliminary hearing was scheduled for today. Judge  Kaleb Cockrum had already indicated at the last hearing hearing that her preliminary hearing could "get bumped."

And that is what happened. It was continued to June 16. Millsap did not look happy as she exited the jail conference room.

Judge Cockrum denied defense request for a special set. "As of May 20, time critical cases are popping up," he said. There is limited courtroom availability. Judge Cockrum repeated his remarks about the challenges of having a defendant appear in person in a courtroom.

One of the reasons for the continuance is that a Judge needs to make a ruling on the 827 petition filed by Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm. The 827 petition hearing was scheduled for May 18. It was not heard that day. Information on this has been covered in detail in the last few posts.

Millsap is charged with one count of voluntary manslaughter, two counts of child abuse and one special allegation that she personally used a firearm; a shotgun. The victim was her 17 year old son.

Millsap's attorney is Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm.
