"Mr. Ziegler is a problematic client."
Timothy Ziegler was ordered by the Court to be personally present at his next court date. Today's hearing was to see if Ziegler could retain private counsel. He cannot so the Public Defender will continue to represent him.
Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees demanded a bond increase and Ziegler was remanded into custody. He posted a new bond and is no longer in custody, according to his attorney.
Deputy DA Candace Myers appeared via Zoom for the People on this case today.
"Mr. Ziegler is a problematic client," said Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin. "I inherited him from Ms. Bennett."
Ziegler was arrested by HCSO on May 25 on a bench warrant for PC 422, criminal threats. He was released on O.R. according to the jail log.
In April 2019, he was arrested for PC 273.6 (a), violation of a restraining order. In March 2019, he was arrested for violating a restraining order.
Trial confirmation is scheduled on June 4; jury trial on July 6. Those dates will change since Mr. McLaughlin is going on Families First Coronavirus Response Act leave mid June and returning after school opens in Fall.
