After 23 years at Roundtable Pizza, Christopher Rohrs took "the chance at the American dream" and opened his own business

After 23 years at Roundtable Pizza in management, Christopher Rohrs is no stranger to food business. Last June, Rohrs took over as the new owner of the cafe located on the third floor of the Humboldt County Courthouse. He went from regional manager to entrepreneur.

It has not even been a year and Rohrs has hired a second employee.

When he took over the cafe, Shannon already worked there. He recently hired Elliot, an employee he knows from Roundtable.

The Smokestack cafe has a new decor, much of the same menu but Rohrs has kicked it up a notch by adding his own twist to the daily specials and more selections.

Rohrs made the decision to buy the cafe for several reasons. Less stress and less travel. Rohrs and his family love the area and he plans to retire here.  The most important reason is Rohrs took "the chance at the American dream" and opened his own business."

Check out the Facebook page or stop by in person.  Rohrs loves trains and his decor reflects his other passion.

  1. Nice place for lunch. Great specials. Baked chicken Wednesdays are super yummy. Good fresh, cookies everyday. All at a fair price, and nice portions.
