Does the defense presenting a case in the Chad Smith trial even matter?

The second defense witness was Ms. Nicole Yadon. She was designated as an expert witness. I have a separate post on her testimony about the SART exam.

Unlike the prosecution's expert witness, Dr. Anthony Urquiza, whose testimony about Child Abuse Accomodation Syndrome benefits the prosecution, Ms. Yadon's testimony did not present one side. Her testimony will be beneficial to both sides.

Does the defense presenting a case even matter? You have the older female alternate juror who doesn't pay attention to either the People or the Defense, thumbs through the transcripts in minutes instead of watching the videos ( and following along with the transcript like other jurors) or falling asleep. She makes faces and reacts in court. She has a strong opinion and it was obvious since day one.

As I mentioned in a previous post, some of the 12 jurors seem to have made their mind up about Chad Smith before all the evidence has been heard.

The justice system works if the law and judicial process is followed.  If one of these jurors were accused, would they want a fair trial?

I have had both positive and negative interactions with Chad Smith before the trial.  I have seen him and Amy Smith at Surfside Burger Shack (when he owned the business). I interviewed and did a business profile on him years ago.

I am not a fan of Chad Smith. I wasnt a fan of John Beideman or Cory Fisher. I knew stuff  about them outside court. My opinion about them did not make me assume that the molestation allegations were true. I heard each side present their case. Everyone deserves a fair trial and a defense. Even narcissistic sociopath Seng Yang.

The two yahoos that come to court and hang out with Jane Doe #1's grandmother, especially Jane Doe #1's father  (the guy I wrote about before) could take lessons from Jane Doe #1's grandmother on how to conduct themselves in court. She sits quietly and doesn't spend her time acting out. Through testimony of his own daughter, Jane Doe #1's father hasn't really been there. It's a little too late for his indigant, 'I give a damn' attitude.

Jane Doe #2's father has been to court briefly. You wouldn't even know he is there.  He is respectful, given the circumstances.

I know him too outside court. This is a small community. Jane Doe #'s father statement about "their drama" regarding Chad and Amy Smith was very accurate.

Hopefully, the jurors will weigh all the evidence in the case because there are three families and other children besides Jane Doe #1 and Jane Doe #2 whose lives will be permanently affected by the verdict.
