The decision on the motion to continue for Seng Yang had the same result today as it would have yesterday

Motion to continue Seng Yang's jury trial was continued at the last minute from yesterday to trial assignment today. Yang charges include forcible rape of his own daughter and forcing her to participate in porn.

Seng's jury trial scheduled for April 29 was vacated. The motion to continue was granted for a week. Trial assignment is on May 3. Jury trial is now scheduled for May 6.

It is not the only jury trial scheduled for May 6, but Yang will continue to work the system because he can. The only difference today was that Yang's family was in court.

Deputy District Attorney Joel Buckingham was present in court for the People. Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo was present for the defense.

The prosecutor for the case is Deputy DA Stacey Eads who is currently in trial on the Chad Smith case. This is the third back to back lengthy sexual abuse trial for Ms. Eads. After Cory Fisher, she had to start Chad Smith, now she will have to start Yang. Next week is Fisher's sentencing and the jury is expected to get the case for Smith and start deliberating. All three defendants refused to waive time.

Mr. Luke Brownfield, Yang's attorney is out of the office.

I have written two posts on Wednesday and Friday as well as covered why this keeps happening in other recent posts.
