If looks could kill; a few jurors express their disgust and anger about Chad Smith

Have certain jurors made up their mind about Chad Smith without hearing all the evidence?

A few jurors have glanced over at Chad Smith during the course of jury trial with reactions but there are at least three who feel very strongly about him.

There is an older female alternate juror who seemed fine during jury selection but from Day 1 has been uncomfortable and looks like she'd rather poke her eyes out than be at this trial. She has had a strong reaction to Smith and the case since Day 1.

This afternoon when there was testimony that revealed more information about Smith and Jane Doe #1, more than a few jurors looked at Smith. Most of them looked at him to see his reaction or at Smith while he said something to his defense attorney but two in particular had a very strong reaction. A male and female juror looked over several times at Smith this afternoon in disgust and anger.

The day started out with UC Davis' Dr. Anthony Urquiza testifying about Child Abuse Accomodation Syndrome.

Urquiza is a psychologist, a professor at the Department of Pediatrics and the Director of the  CAARE Center  a child abuse treatment program.

There are 5 parts to the Child Abuse Accimodation Syndrome: Secrecy, Helplessness, Entrapment, Accomodation, Delayed and unconvincing disclosure, Retraction and Reconsideration.

Dr. Urquiza does not opine on guilt or innocence. His testimony is informational.

In her cross examination, Smith's attorney, Ms. Andrea Sullivan got Urquiza to admit that he mostly testifies for the prosecution as ane expert witness. Out of the 200 cases he has testified in over "25 or 27" years, Urquiza said he has only testified for the defense "12 or 15" times for the defense.

When Ms. Sullivan asked about Child Abuse Accimodation Syndrome being barred in certain states, Urquiza acknowledged there had been an issue in New Jersey where it had been improperly used.

Urquiza said that the article Dr. Roland Summit  wrote about Child Abuse Accimodation Syndrome in 1983 was his clinical opinion. There needs to be evidence from Child Welfare Services, the Courts or physical evidence to corroborate sexual abuse allegations.
