"How can you think your daughter and I are fucking?"

Amy Smith, Chad Smith's former wife was the second People's witness. She was very credible today. Her direct testimony was consistent with what she testified at the preliminary hearing. Cross examination will continue tomorrow.

She testified about how her relationship with Chad Smith changed and how his relationship with Jane Doe #1 caused her concern and why.
The violation of the protective order and how she tried to address her concerns,even before she found the notebook in Jane Doe #1's bedroom.

Amy Smith testified about the time she walked in on Jane Doe #1 and Chad Smith snuggling under the blanket.

Chad Smith was lying on his side with Jane Doe facing him. Chad Smith had his arm around
her. "This is how we had sex."

She questioned Jane Doe #1 who denied anything was going on. Chad Smith said, "How can you think your daughter and I are fucking?"

During cross examination, she impeached Jane Doe #1 testimony and some of the details Jane Doe #1 added about this couch incident yesterday in court. Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads tried to address that in redirect but it was unsuccessful.

Cross examination of Amy Smith continued briefly on 4/19. A video that Amy Smith recorded of Jane Doe #1 was played for the jury. It showed a very conflicted Jane Doe #1, angry at Amy Smith, reminding her mother of the good that Chad Smith brought into their lives like her little brother and that she enjoyed working at the restaurant.

She told Amy Smith she missed Chad Smith. The audio had a lot of background noise amd Jane Doe #1's responses were inaudible most of the time.

At one point, Amy Smith says, "So he didn't have sex with you?" Amy Smith tells Jane Doe #1 if she backs off, then Jane Doe #1 forgets about the molestation.

At one point, Amy Smith asks Jane Doe #1 ,if she will tell the truth at the CAST interview. Jane Doe #1 responds, "I have to don't I?"
