What's the point of this draft when all Eureka City candidates have already signed a code of conduct?

There is a code of conduct that every single candidate running for City of Eureka has signed.



There is draft being circulated via email by certain Councilmembers and candidates, specifically Councilmembers Heidi Messner and Natalie Arroyo, and there are plans to hold a press conference this Friday.

You will notice certain candidates are not included in this draft sent via email. Those left out were contacted this morning and given a deadline to respond within a couple of hours.

I reached out to those not included, and was able to briefly speak with Anthony Mantova and Michelle Costantine.

Anthony Mantova said that he did receive a call from Heidi Messner today at 9 a.m. There is a deadline of 11 a.m. this morning to respond to this draft. Michelle Costantine said she got a call at 9:30 a.m. this morning with a 11 a.m. deadline.

Anthony Mantova did not want to say anything more and told me that he plans to release a statement later. Same response by Michelle Costantine.

John Fullerton responded to me later this morning. " I heard Heidi was doing something but I had no contact from her until this morning around 9am.

"Furthermore,  if Heidi was doing something other than a political stunt she should have involved all the other 11 candidates at the beginning and have our input instead of just Arroyo.  Then not informing any of the rest of us until two hours before her arbitrary deadline is very curious indeed."
