Local GOP leaders comment on the Senate confirmation vote forJudge Brett Kavanaugh

I spoke to two local Humboldt County Republican leaders about the Senate vote confirming Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

"I am very happy truth won out," said Annette DeModena. "I don't believe the unproven accusations against him because his entire life was different than what he was accused of in these last couple of weeks. I feel sorry for Dr. Ford and I do believe something happened to her but there was no credible evidence against Judge Kavanaugh."

"I think it was a good sign for Democracy," said John Schutt. " I think it was good that the debate took place. Lot of people forget that the Senate does not have to have hearings. Their job is to advise and consent. These were open hearings. I think the right decision was made. If you go back to the last five or 6 Supreme Court nominees appointed by a Democrat President, the votes were always a margin of 60 but if you look at the Supreme Court nominees by a Republican President, the vote is always close."
