Fortuna Police Department promotes Gabe Charlton to Sergeant

The Fortuna Police Department is pleased to announce that Officer Gabe Charlton has been promoted to Sergeant.

Sergeant Charlton is a Humboldt County native, growing up in Eureka and graduating from St. Bernard’s High School. Sergeant Charlton attended the 93rd Police Academy at College of the Redwoods in 2003. Sergeant Charlton was hired by the County of Humboldt as an Adult Probation Officer in 2004 and worked as a probation officer from 2004 to 2009, when he joined the Fortuna Police Department.

Sergeant Charlton has distinguished himself as a Field Training Officer, grant coordinator and Police Academy Instructor.

Sergeant Charlton’s promotion took effect on October 2, 2016 and a promotion ceremony was held on October 27, 2016 at Fortuna City Hall.
