Former Security National employee, former Humboldt Planning Commission member and former County Assessment Appeals Board member Brian Mitchell still has three 2025 open cases.
Mitchell was on no bail, released from custody on supervised release. And he could not even stay out of jail for three days. Mitchell was arrested by HCSO yesterday.
The jail log is not always accurate so I don't know if the PC602(m) trespassing is a new charge. And if it is at the location he was ordered to stay away from. The drug charge HS11366 operating or maintaining a drug house is definitely from the three existing 2025 cases. PC 4573 bringing a controlled substance to jail and PC 647 (f) public intoxication are new charges he was booked on 7/11. Mitchell is back in jail on a no bail status.
Since his 2024 case and one 2025 case was dismissed. Mitchell has screwed up every chance he gets. He needs to stay in jail this time. These repeat offenders wity multiple arrests within days is ridiculous and a waste of law enforcement and court resources.
7/16/25: Mitchell was arraigned on two cases; CR2501402; his fourth 2025 case and CR2501351. Charges for that case are in the previous July post. Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm appeared in court today for the People.
Mitchell walked into the courtroom in an orange jumpsuit & stood in court with a stern look on his face. Besides the judge, attorneys, court clerk and bailiff, I was the only one in the courtroom when his case was called.
Visiting Judge Marjorie Carter set bail at $35,000 for the CR2501402. Thanks to Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell I learned CR2501351 is a refiling of CR2501225B which had been dismissed.Bail in CR2501351 which is his third 2025 case is $25,000. Defense waived OR bail without prejudice. Ms. O'Connell said she may "bring a motion at preliminary hearing." The other two cases previously scheduled for 7/22 for trial confirmation will be now be on the 7/25 calendar to coincide. Those two cases have jury trial scheduled for 7/28.
7/23/25: In CR2501402 + CR2501351, there was a defense motion to continue preliminary hearing scheduled for today which was granted. Preliminary hearing rescheduled for 7/29. In CR2501224 + CR2501322, the 7/25 and 7/28 dates were vacated. Those cases are trailing.
