James Leach broke into a local attorney's house; also broke into Allison and Jeff Holland's house, has a gun violence restaining order is back in custody at the Humboldt jail

James Albert Leach who broke into local attorney Allison Jackson's house as well as Allison Arkley Holland and Jeff Holland's house has been booked into the Humboldt jail. In my last post on him, on 1/22/25, he was transferred to a medical facility after criminal proceedings were suspended.

The 2023 case involving the incident at local attorney Allison Jackson's house was dismissed. The 2023 case with the Hollands is still open. There was a preliminary hearing for both 2023 cases. Ms. Jackson and the Holland's housekeeper testified. I spoke to both Ms. Jackson and Ms. Holland right after these incidents. I have known both of them for years.

Details and charges for the 2023 cases are in previous coverage about the 2023 cases. In this post, I have included charges for two 2024 cases. One case is charges of stalking and criminal threats against Allison Arkley Holland and Jeff Holland. In the other 2024 case Leach is charged with failure to appear in court after being released on O.R. and resisting EPD Officer Jon Omey.

I did confirm with the jail that he is on a no bail status. There is a restoration hearing scheduled for 6/13; a review on 9/17 in these three cases.

2024 cases:

6/13/25: Leach found competent. Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm is the prosecutor on all cases. In CR2300152, trial setting on 6/26; preliminary hearing in CR2403686 and CR2403006 on the same day. The 9/17 date was vacated.

6/26/25: All 3 cases continued by stipulation to 6/27 to contact victims for resolution.

6/27/25: CR2300152 dismissed by people. CR2403006 dismissed by People. Plea accepted by Retired Judge John Feeney in
CR2403686, Leach pleaded guilty to Count 1 PC 646.9 (a) stalking, People reduced Count 2 PC 422 criminal threats to misdemeanor. Count 3 another PC 422 charge was dismissed by the People.

Sentencing on 7/24. Deputy District Attorney Brandon Boozari appeared in court for the People. Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo appeared on behalf of his office.

7/24/25: Deputy DA Trent Timm appeared on the case for the People. Public Defender Luke Brownfield for Mr. Russo. Retired Judge Christopher Wilson expressed concerns about Leach's history. People agreeing to probation with a waiver of custody credits is a joke. A 10 year stay away order is meaningless given Leach's repeat behavior. Have no idea which of Leach's victims addressed the court. I was covering other court cases and have wasted enough time on Leach. PPPR report on 8/7.
