DA charges Jonathan Brisco with criminal threats, false imprisonment, oral copulation with a minor and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger

 




On June 20, I was at Studio 6 in Eureka when alleged molestor, criminal threats and false imprisonment suspect Jonathan Brisco was arrested and taken to jail.

Eureka Police Department booked Brisco for Brisco was booked for five charges: PC 422 criminal threats, PC 236 false imprisonment, PC 207 (a) kidnapping, PC 287 (c) (1) oral copulation with a minor and PC 21310 carrying a concealed dirk or dagger. Bail at booking $75,000.

The DA's office has charged him with four counts: PC 422 criminal threats, PC 236 false imprisonment, PC 287 (c) (1) oral copulation with a minor and PC 21310 carrying a concealed dirk or dagger. 

He was arraigned this afternoon. Public Defender's office appointed. OR bail on 6/26; preliminary hearing on 7/3. Retired Visiting Judge Ksenia Tsenin kept bail at $75,000. Deputy District Attorney Rebecca Buckley-Stein appeared on the case at arraignment.




6/26/25: OR bail continued to 6/27, Public Defender declares conflict; Joe Judge to be appointed.

6/27/25: Supervised release denied by Judge Kelly Neel. Joe Judge appointed and 7/3 date vacated due to Mr. Judge's unavailability. Preliminary hearing rescheduled to 7/8/25. Deputy District Attorney Rebecca Buckley-Stein appeared on the case for the People.

7/8/25: Joe Judge had a conflict. Ms. Rebecca Linkous had a conflict. Gregory Kreis appointed on 7/9/25. Kreis made oral motion to continue preliminary hearing to 7/31.

7/31/25: Preliminary hearing continued again by defense to 8/27.

**On 7/14/25, I checked court records because a reader said she saw Brisco. E court summary shows Brisco posted bond on 6/24/25; court minutes indicate not bail posted, jail records show Brisco out of custody on 7/10 and e court shows Aladdin Bonds filed bond surety on 7/11.**

8/27/25: Brisco is out of custody. Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm appeared on the case for the People. 

Mr. Kreis told Judge Steven Steward "a new felony case is coming down. There is an offer. I prefer to deal with both" cases.

Ms. Timm said, "That makes sense. We are filing a new felony today." 

Setting of preliminary hearing was scheduled for 9/11.

9/11/25: People request OR bail hearing for possible remand. Defense objects. Judge Steward granted People's request. Brisco ordered to contact supervised release. Arraigned on new case CR2501787. Count 1 PC 253 (a) threatening letter with intent to extort. OR bail and setting of preliminary hearing on 9/22.



9/22/25: In CR2501251 and CR2501787, failure to appear, bench warrant issued by Judge Christopher Wilson for $75,000 in both cases. Brisco in hospital. Mr. Kreis to declare conflict & provide proof of hospitalization. Ms. Rebecca Linkous to accept appointment. OR bail + setting of prelim + conf of counsel on 10/6.

10/6/25: OR bail + setting of preliminary hearing + confirmation of counsel + bench warrant held; continued by court to 10/13, Ms. Linkous has conflict. Mr. Kreis made special appearance.

10/13/25: Brisco was present but remains out of custody. OR bail + setting of preliminary hearing + confirmation of counsel continued to 10/21. Ms. Joanne Carter available for appointment but out this week.

10/21/25: Ms. Carter appointed. Setting of prelim + OR bail continued to 10/30.

10/30/25: Bench warrant recalled; Brisco remains out of custody on bond. Preliminary hearing on 1/15/26.
