Before the call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on January 22, CBS News' "60 Minutes" has learned Trump called one of the Georgia secretary of state's investigators.
A person briefed on the call said Trump told the investigator they would be a "national hero" if they found evidence of fraud. But no evidence had been found by the investigator.
The White House did not respond to repeated requests for comment from the CBS News White House unit.
NBC News said the Georgia Secretary of State office confirmed that shortly before Christmas, President Trump called the state’s chief elections investigator to “find the fraud,” and said the official would be a “national hero” if he did so. NBC’s Julia Jester reports.
The Washington Post was the first to report on this other call and said it took place on December 23. Raffensperger confirmed the call to the Washington Post.
