“If President Trump wouldn’t have tweeted out anything and would’ve stayed silent, we would’ve stayed silent as well,” said Raffensperger.
“If you’re going to put out stuff that we don’t believe is true, then we will respond in kind.”
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis released a statement to reporters that posted it on Twitter.
WSBTV reported some excerpts from an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.
Raffensperger said, “I just prefer not to talk to someone when we’re in litigation. We let the lawyers handle it. We took the call and we had a conversation. He did most the talking and we did most the listening,” Raffensperger said.
Raffensperger said that he emphasized that the Georgia voting data Trump had was “just plain wrong. He had hundreds and hundreds of people that he said were dead that voted. We found two. That’s an example: he has bad data."
Stephanopoulos asked Raffensperger if he will open an investigation into the phone call with the president. Raffensperger said he may have a conflict of interest due to a conversation between him, the chief investigator and Trump. He suggested an alternate investigator.
"I understand the Fulton County district attorney wants to look at it, maybe that’s the appropriate venue for it to go."
When asked if he would vote for Trump again, Raffensperger said he will continue to support Republicans.
If you watch a clip of the interview on Twitter, when Stephanopoulos asks Raffensperger,"so you would vote for President Trump again?"
Raffensperger says that Trump is not on the ballot for 2024 "so we will have to wait and see what happens."
