White House counsel Pat Cipollone is considering resigning told CNN.
Vanity Fair reported a "West Wing staffer told the friend that White House Counsel Pat Cipollone was urging White House officials not to speak to Trump or enable his coup attempt in any way, so they could reduce the chance they could be prosecuted for treason under the Sedition Act." The White House declined comment.
Former White House communications director Alyssa Farah told CNN today that Trump should "seriously consider" resigning.
Farah said on CNN's that she holds Trump responsible for inciting the mob that stormed the US Capitol in an attempt to stop Congress' certification of President-elect Joe Biden's Electoral College win and allowing this "lie to take a life of its own that the election might be overturned."
Farah said she would feel safer today if Trump resigned and Vice President Mike Pence took over.
"In a time when the president could have called off the mob, he did not decide to do so, and to me, that's just a breaking point," Farrah said to Fox News today.
Regarding January 6, Farrah said, "I have spent time in fragile democracies in other parts of the world, and our country looked like those countries. That is not who we are. That is not what we stand for, and we've got to come together as a country."
Former White House chief of staff John Kelly has said Trump should either step down or be removed from office.
