Trial confirmation for murder suspect Gearold Sotolongo was scheduled on May 13. Jury trial scheduled for May 18 was vacated. This was expected due to the California Chief Justice ruling.
Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor for this case. Public Defender Marek Reavis is Sotolongo's attorney. Deputy Public Defender Luke Brownfield appeared on this case today.
Mr. Rees requested jury trial be reset in September since he already has two other jury trials scheduled and all jury trials have been and could be impacted by the coronavirus related rulings.
It was stated in court that Mr. Reavis "is expected to be back at some point." I have reached out to the County for confirmation.
Trial confirmation is on August 11; jury trial on September 14.
