On Saturday at approximately 9 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers contacted 50-year-old old Jared Meyer of Bridgeville, stopped in his vehicle on the shoulder of State Route 36 near mile marker 32.
During the contact with Mr. Meyer, he admitted to having firearms in his possession. Upon inspection by the officers, it was determined one of two handguns located had been previously reported stolen.
An unregistered AR-15, without the required items to make it featureless and legal in California, was also located, along with two 30 round high capacity magazines.
Additionally, officers located 2.5 grams of methamphetamine and a DMV records check determined Mr. Meyer was driving with a suspended license and the registration on the vehicle was expired. Officers discovered the vehicle also displayed false registration tabs.
Mr. Meyer was subsequently transported and booked into to the Humboldt County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance among others.
