Another twist in the Marci Kitchen jury trial, you will have to wait until Friday to find out more


Intervention for Marci Kitchen was scheduled for July 18. After 45 minutes of Judge Kaleb Cockrum meeting with attorneys privately; the courtroom was opened.

Judge Cockrum stated on record what an intervention hearing is; informal and private matters are discussed in closed courtroom including the possibility of  resolving the case. "We are still in middle of those conversations," said Judge Cockrum.

The intervention has been continued until 1:30 on Friday. Judge Cockrum instructed attorneys if there were any motions to be filed, to do so before Friday afternoon.

When court was opened, only Victim Witness and myself were in the audience.
No family members representing the victims were in court. Marci Kitchen was not present.

Trial confirmation is scheduled for August 9. Jury trial is scheduled for August 20.

At the last court hearing, the date in August was set due to availability of a particular defense expert. Trial estimate is 6 weeks with full day sessions.

Attorneys were told by Judge Kaleb Cockrum that motions in limine and a jury questionnaire in the Marci Kitchen case to be submitted by August 6.

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is prosecuting the case. Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell is representing Kitchen.
