Two junkies were "shooting up" near a local bank in downtown Eureka on Saturday. They were on bank property that is not public. A woman and her young child were crossing from where they parked the car to go to the bank.
They startled the junkies. One man pointed his dirty used needle at the girl and threatened her because she had disturbed and startled them while they were "shooting up."
She is a child, under 10 years old. Frightened, the mother and daughter went to the bank. A manager called the police and went out to see where the men were. The two men yelled "Fuck you" at him. They claimed they could hang out there if they wished; it was public property. One guy ran off. The other was arrested by the police. That man was out a few hours later.
The guy who ran off is the same jerk in the red and black jacket, who parades all around town, sometimes with his dog and different entourage, blasting his radio for blocks. There are a few of them who do this; all healthy as horses. All they do is cause problems; day and night. No job except to harass others and be a nuisance.
I had the same jerk in the red and black jacket tell me to fuck off and threaten me outside my home and my office. He demanded I find him a job and housing. It is not my responsibility to take care of him and his lazy ass and bad choices. He left since I started videotaping him and took his photo. I told EPD, if they found him, I would press charges.
Same entitled nonsense. He told me he can loiter where he wants. First of all, you cannot loiter and camp on my private property. Learn the difference between public and private property. Even if it is public property, there are rules. You cannot do whatever you want. Disturbing the peace, illegal activity and threatening people is not allowed.
California and Humboldt have created this tolerance where these lazy bums and drug addicts feel entitled to curse, "shoot up" and plant themselves wherever they feel like.
Laws are not going to change anytime soon. More people need to document and press charges and speak up. Keep showing up at City Council, County meetings and in November, vote to feel safe in your own homes, offices and towns. Vote for those standing up for taxpaying citizens and property owners instead of do nothing enablers.
