EPD asking public's help in identifying burglary and attempted sexual assault suspect

On July  25, 2018, at  about 8:00 a.m., officers with the Eureka  Police  Department responded to a  residence  on the 3300 block of Summer  Street for  the  report of a  burglary and attempted sexual assault  that had just  occurred.

The  victim  said an unknown male made  entry  into her  home and  attempted to assault  her in her  bedroom.  The  suspect fled out a  rear door  when the victim threatened to grab a weapon.

The  suspect was described as  a  white male, 30’s, 5’10”, thin build, blond hair, and was wearing  a  red sweatshirt with white writing  and brown cargo style  pants.

Detectives are  asking  that anyone  with surveillance  cameras in between the  area  of Highland  and Buhne  and  Fairfield and A  Streets  check for  a  subject matching  the suspect description between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.   It is unknown if the  suspect left the  area  on foot or  in vehicle.

Anyone  with surveillance  or information is  asked to email  Detective Watson at cwatson@ci.eureka.ca.gov    At this time, it  appears  this incident occurred at random.

The  suspect has not been identified and the  investigation is  ongoing.  Residents are  encouraged to be  diligent in locking  all  doors  and  windows at all times.  Be  aware  of suspicious  activity  and report it to  your local police  department.
