Hailey Lamb gives specifics on why she wants to run for Eureka City Council

Hailey Lamb wants to run for Eureka City Council Ward 1. She hasn't filed any papers yet.

Her Facebook post:

"Why I want to run for city council:

I’ve been asked many times why I want to run for city council, so I thought I’d write a brief review of my thoughts.

I want change! I want more business zoning areas. We should be encouraging the growth of old town eureka. It is such a beautiful place with so many economic opportunities. As a past code enforcement officer, I learned that many of our zoning codes limit the prosperity of our city. The style of old town is also something I want to expand upon. As a local artist, I believe crowds will come where something is visually appealing to the eye. Let’s encourage beautifying the city!

I want to help reduce the drug and homeless issues. Let’s have road crews that clean the streets and give people an easy opportunity to get off there feet. Let’s strengthen our youth programs as this is where this problem starts. With out an opportunity to succeed, many teens fall into drug abuse.

I want to upkeep infrastructure. Not too pleased with your water bill going up? That’s because past eureka city council members did not upkeep necessary equipment to provide the city with what it needs. I want to make sure the general public does not have to pay for the consequences of politicians that mismanage the budget.

I want to fix our roads. This is a huge problem in our city. So many of us are dodging pot holes on heavily used streets. It’s unacceptable that our roads take away the attention of eurekas beauty.

I want to bring in more tourism! This will help our economy greatly. We just got voted #1 in the US and we need to start showing our beautiful city to the rest of the world.

Lastly, but most importantly, I’d like to see eureka become more eco friendly. Let’s plant more trees and use more renewable energy. I want future generations of people to be able to enjoy eureka without further damaging the environment or wildlife around us."
