Antone Aubrey's case illustrates how California elected officials fail inmates needing mental health services

Yet another confirmation of transport hearing scheduled for murder suspect Antone Aubrey on July 23.

Next set of hearings include sanctions.

There is definitely a need for mental health services and more state hospitals.  As usual, the state of California and the elected leaders waste money on nonsense like a bullet train instead of meaningful health treatment.

Doubt declared regarding defendant's competency is becoming too frequent in Humboldt. The defendant gets shipped off to Napa, comes back and some get shipped back again. Declaring doubt in Humboldt has become a way of clearing backlogs and passing the buck. How many inmates are getting mental health treatment that males a difference in the current process?

With so many defendants having doubt regarding competency declared in Humboldt, it seems "doubt" is an easy way to get criminal proceedings suspended and shirk responsibility.
