HSU to end International English Language Institute in July
Email sent to host families (April 3 at 9:17 a.m.):
Dear host families,
I am so sad to have to write this email to you. After 30 years of operation, HSU has decided to close the IELI program at the end of the Summer Session, in July.
This was a somewhat sudden and surprising decision I was informed of late last week.
I cannot thank you enough for opening your homes and your hearts to the students who came to our program. We would not have been successful in providing a memorable experience to these students without the welcoming spirit of the host families who we have worked with. And it breaks my heart to have to deliver this news.
If you have concerns you would like to voice, please direct them to our Dean, Carl Hansen, who is overseeing our program since the departure of our director. His email is carl.hansen@humboldt.edu
My position and the IELI email addresses will be eliminated upon the closure of the program, so if you would like to contact the international office in the future, you will need to reach out to Emily Kirsch (emily@humboldt.edu) or Megan Mefford (mefford@humboldt.edu).
Thank you again for all the time and effort you have dedicated to us. It will be remembered, surely, by the students whose lives you have touched.
Sincerely,
Tyler Bradbury
Academic Program Coordinator (DSO)
