"Sarah Shinsky was walking home from work near the Town Clock about 7 p.m. Wednesday, when a stranger grabbed her from behind.
She said he tried to tear off her jeans and threw her to the sidewalk. The 28-year-old woman kicked him, tried to choke the heavy aggressor and screamed for aid.
With the help of passersby, she escaped before the man stripped naked, started to masturbate and tried to punch the Santa Cruz police officer who arrested him minutes later, police said."

Shinsky's friend started a change.org petition for action on mental health and funds. The man who attacked Shinsky is transient and mentally ill.
