"Eviction isn't just a condition of poverty; it's a cause of poverty"

It isn't just low income renters and it isn't just cities. The housing crisis is NIMBYISM and greed.

These points are not covered in the articles below.

"Eviction isn't just a condition of poverty; it's a cause of poverty," Desmond says. "Eviction is a direct cause of homelessness, but it also is a cause of residential instability, school instability [and] community instability."

"We're in the middle of a housing crisis, and that means more and more people are giving more and more of their income to rent and utilities," Desmond says.

  1. It is greed. My rental go's for well under market rate, why? it's never empty. When you go for the maximum you sit empty for months losing money and dealing with renters. You can get good quality renters for the long haul with good solid jobs who appreciate the opportunity to live affordably.

    1. There are decent landlords like you but in Humboldt, very rare to find those.
