Dick Storre and Pete Vallerga recognized by Eureka Police Department

Last night the Eureka Police Department and the Eureka Police Officers Association recognized the hardworking men and women who volunteer their time to serve the department and our community.

We honored volunteers who put in thousands of hours towards the following groups:

Eureka Volunteer Patrol (EVP)
Eureka Explorers Post #104
Missing Persons Unit
Records Unit
Vehicle Abatement
Graffiti Abatement
Crime Prevention Unit

The Gary Swanson Award is inspired by the remarkable selfless service of long time Eureka Volunteer Patrol member, Gary Swanson.  Gary spent over 16 years and logged in over 6,200 hours of stellar volunteer service.  Sadly, Gary passed away of February 10, 2016.  The award is presented in his honor to a volunteer(s) who exhibits invaluable service to his or her department and community.

This year's recipients of the Gary Swanson Award are Dick Storre and Pete Vallerga.  Dick served on EVP for 17 years and Pete served for 15 years.  Both recently retired from the volunteer service and we thank them for their many years of dedicated service.

Check out our website eurekapd.net for more information on how you can also become a volunteer.
