"She was in the room, on the bed when defendant was molesting Jane Doe."

"There was digital penetration multiple times."

After going through the charges in the Edward Winkle White case, Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer asked the jury,
"Can you convict based on only Jane Doe's testimony?" She mentioned jury instruction 1190.

"You are not convicting on just Jane Doe's testimony, you have corroboration by her sister Faith's (last name withheld) testimony. "She was in the room, on the bed when defendant was molesting Jane Doe."

Using a Powerpoint presentation, Ms. Schaffer went over certain testimony. Jane Doe disclosed the abuse to her sister. Jane Doe had her room when Michael was away. Defendant visited Jane Doe and entered through Nena's window.

"Nena (last name withheld), Jane Doe's mom sees her relationship change with the defendant over time, as she hits puberty. Jane Doe has a phobia of closed doors. Suddenly, she locks/closes doors. Her mom noticed Jane Doe became depressed when the molesting started. Jane Doe's mom caught the defendant with Jane in Michael's room. She saw the defendant pull Jane Doe's pants down."

"Nena testified she would turn down the defendant for sex because he was gross or smelly and he would go to Jane Doe to get what he wanted."

"Nena confronted Jane Doe who would say everything is fine but eventually, you saw the emotional testimony, Jane Doe said, "Mom, I got to tell you something. It did happen."

"The courtroom is different from the interview room. In a courtroom, you got a mic, you have people staring at you, judging you."

"Defense counsel is probably going to tell you Jane Doe is lying and his client is telling the truth."

"We all make mistakes in date and time." Ms. Schaffer brought up the example of having to remember exact dates and every details of your second job, a while back for an appplication. "Unless you have a miraculous memory or just did your resume, you would not remember.  This is sexual abuse."

"Keep in mind, this is difficult for a child to do. Sit in a courtroom and talk about sexual abuse."
