Instead of just complaining, Tina Mori organized a Business Watch meeting with EPD to get information on solutions

Like most business owners in Eureka, Tina Mori of Tina's Photography, located on 533 F street, was fed up. She has been dealing with the same public safety issues you have heard about over and over again. Some businesses have had a few break-ins resulting in no arrests.

More businesses near Tina's store were looking into purchasing security cameras or better equipment. Tina told me before making any decisions, she contacted EPD to set up a meeting.

EPD's Suzie Owsley was present at the Business Watch meeting that took place last night.

Despite the weather, 20 plus people showed up last night. "It was a great turnout," said Ms. Owsley.

Issues discussed at the meeting were:

  • How to make their businesses safe
  • How to get informatiob out to each other in a timely manner on incidents going on around their businesses
  • How to deal with transients/homeless sleeping in their store front areas, defecating/urinating, etc.
  • What to expect when they call dispatch
  • The role POP plays with drug houses/abatement nuisances

    1. Unknown, I am sorry to hear that. Did you write to me before? If you did, email me and let me know whether you are viewing this on your laptop or cell phone. If it is your cell-phone, there are ways to increase the size of the font from your settings as well as other options.
