Elijah Chandler stares down Zoellner in court; says he did not state court testimony to Detectives due to lack of trust

Elijah Chandler, David Josiah Lawson's friend testified after Lawson's girlfriend this morning. He is the one that has said on interviews with other media that he tried to give Lawson CPR immediately upon finding his friend.

Dressed in jeans, black shirt with a large Ankh symbol, Chandler stared at Kyle Zoellner pausing in between responses. Zoellner keeps his head down throughout testimony.  "If looks could kill" is what came to mind watching Chandler look at Zoellner.
Chandler did not see a knife but he observed Paris Wright and Zoellner in an altercation where Wright knocked Zoellner to the ground. Chandler testified that he saw an object, shining due to light, could not tell what it was, but he saw something in Zoellner's hand which fell to the ground.

When Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees asked Chandler why he did not tell Detectives about hearing "I really hope that nigger dies", yet today Chandler said he heard it in court, Chandler's respinse was:

"I didn't think it was relevant," referring to when he spoke to Detectives two days later after the incident. Chandler testified he said it now because "it is a trial." Chandler said he thought he would not be believed and did not trust because of the way they had been treated at the crime scene.

Chandler's demeanor varied; respectful to the Judge; neutral to hostile at times with Mr. Rees to outright hostile and insulting to Ms. Kelly Neel, one of Zoellner's attorney.

He became very defensive when he did not want to answer something. Couple of his responses and an insult to Ms. Neel was stricken from the record. That comment was, " I feel you don't care."

Chandler answered selectively, at times, pausing for effect, like he was on stage.

    1. Where in the above post did I say I did not believe him? Read the post, again.

Wow this guy is on another planet with his beliefs. Hindering an investigation because of how he felt treated? Is this where the race baiting started on social media? The party and ensuing fracas appears as pretty raucous to begin with. What, were they expecting a concierge with turn down service at the end of the night? This guy wants justice but is of no help at all with the investigation as it seems he's already acted as his own judge and jury.

    1. Well, Chandler was the one who stabbed Lawson. He didn't testify about the "nigger" comment at the scene because it didn't happen. He added that in court to play the Victim Card, so that everyone feels sorry for him and HAS to believe him.

  3. "I didn't think it was relevant," yet Elijah swears up and down this is about race. If he truly believed this was about race and that statement was actually said, he would've said it from the get go. If the BU really want justice for their friend, then they need to stop hiding the truth. Tina Sampay was at that party taking pictures of Kyle's girlfriend and her friends yet she's sitting in on court and not coming forward. I don't believe for one minute that someone didn't record what happened that night. Kids these days love to record everything, especially fights. Look at Josiah's Facebook, he's shared tons of fights.

  4. If you ask me the courts should be looking at Elijah. His story has never matched up, throwing insults, being hostile towards people shows his inner self. I believe he may have been jealous of Josiah and seen this as his chance to act. Lots of killers pretend to care and even cry after they're killed their victim. He cried wolf about the racism because he needs a cover for himself. His demeanor today shows how he was responsible Tha night for his friends dealth. Someone get his prints and give him a lie detector test.
