(Kendra Lewis and Savannah Kindred)
"It's a good morning for some of us; a bad for others," said Jeff Marley, Savannah's uncle.
He told Judge John Feeney that we teach our kids not to drink and drive, get in trouble or there will be consequences.
"Kade killed two girls. I saw him having lunch at Subway yesterday. Nothing happened to him."
Michelle Johnson, Kendra and Savannah's aunt said, "I don't want to be here but I am, for my nieces."
She mentioned that many members of her family were in law enforcement, court and served in the army.
"None of us chose to disgrace our families like Kade Chandler."
"Kade celebrated his 21st birthday with alcohol posting hurtful pictures online."
She told Judge Feeney that the sentence he intended to impose on Kade Chandler was him "killing Kendra and Savannah, again, and proving to society that victims' lives" mean nothing.
Lila Marley, Savannah and Kendra's aunt, cried as she spoke . She called out Kade Chandler's legal team for the loopholes and prolonging this case.
She told Judge John Feeney that she was sharing the personal and painful details to "show him the absolute hell we have been going through."

Judge was too lenient.
ReplyDeleteAnon, you were kind in what you said. Kade Chandler, Marci Kitchen are only two great examples of Fortuna money & arrogance, the best Humboldt justice money can buy and the joke the Humboldt criminal justice system is; Judge Cissna and Judge Miles would have ruled differently. Judge Feeney should be embarassed about this ruling. DUI laws in California are a joke but so is one year jail time. Chad Smith and Jon Goldberg are also from Fortuna but they can't afford bail. Their public defenders have also dragged out cases. Unlike another high profile case, the tribe made an eloquent and calm statement about racism without theatrics. I have only three more speakers statements to finish up and they all nailed Humboldt County and the Humboldt County criminal justice system to the T.
