Yesterday, I did this post.
Today, Utah County Attorney's Office just held a press conference and later, there is a first appearance in Tyler Robinson's case.
"The murder of Charlie Kirk" is an American tragedy. Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray just read 7 counts.
After the press conference where the the prosecution team was present, Utah County Jeff Gray said he will file a notice of intent to file the death penalty.
Mr. Gray said Charlie Kirk was “engaging in one of our most sacred American rights. The bedrock of our democratic republic."
I still have a few more quotes from Mr. Gray at the press conference to add.
“It is also an offense against the state and peace and enjoyment of the people Utah and all those who visit here.”
At the press conference, it was revealed by Robinson's parents that Robinson started leaning to the "left", "became more "pro gay and trans oriented" and started dating his roomate "a biological male." There were discussions about the relationship between Robinson and his father. The relationship with his parents and family and the text exchange between Robinson and his "roomate" need to be investigated further. The texts are in the complaint and posted online.
Also in the complaint is information from the investigation. "The rifle, ammunition rounds, and towel were sent for forensic processing. DNA consistent with Robinson’s was found on the trigger, other parts of the rifle, the fired cartridge casing, two of the three unfired cartridges, and the towel. "
Count 1 aggravated murder. Count 2 Discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury. Aggravating factors for Count 1 and 2. Mr. Gray said that Robinson targeted Kirk for political expression and in the presence of children who would be present and witness the homicide.
Count 3 Obstruction of justice for moving the firearm that was used to shoot Kirk. Count 4 obstruction of justice for disposing of clothing. Count 5 Tampering with a witness; directing roomate to delete incriminating texts. Count 6 Tampering with a witness; directing his roommate to stay silent if police questioned the roommate. Count 7 Commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child. Count 7 is the only misdemeanor; the rest are felonies.
