After 9 years, the DA is no longer opposing defense request for outpatient release for Ewa Misztal

 

I don't know what happened since my last update on 8/27/25 and the 9/2/25 hearing but this 2016 case for Ewa Misztal is finally over.

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer is no longer opposing Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo's request for Misztal's unconditional outpatient patient release. 

The jury trial for 9/2 was  vacated, and on 9/8, details will be finalized and an order with details will be prepared. It is a special set before Judge Lawrence Killoran because Judge Kaleb Cockrum is disqualified and Judge Steven Steward recused himself.
