Judge Canning rules State of CA "entitled to eminent domain" and signs order for possession of parcels in lawsuit against Ray and Jennifer Christie

On 9/5/25, in CV2500928 State of California vs Ray Christie, there was a hearing on the State of California's petition for order of possession.

Ms. Abigail Mullett appeared via Zoom for the State of CA. Local attorney Mr. Ken Bareilles for Ray and Jennifer Christie. I reported previously the Christies are going through divorce.

Ms. Mullett argued that the petition should be granted unopposed due to the lateness and non-conformity of the objection.  Despite Mr. Bareilles' response and after further reply by Ms. Mullett, Humboldt Assistant Presiding Judge Timothy Canning granted the motion and signed the order.

When I checked the case and court minutes yesterday, a case management conference was listed in e court for 10/27/25. I have provided two links to previous coverage,  9/5 court minutes and the signed order.

This is news, mostly of interest to Humboldt readers. I have covered Christie since his 2018 criminal case and there are hundreds of posts which can all be accessed via the search feature on the blog.

10/27/25: Another CMC scheduled for 2/23/26.
