I apologize to my free users. I kept a free version available for 12 years. There are just way too many of you free users to make it financially sustainable. With a slightly edited version of the tweet above & orginal posted with credit, I am going to use this to get across a point you have been reminded many times. Effective today, there are changes.

Today at Tyler Robinson's first appearance court hearing, criminal defense attorney Mr. Greg Skordas made a reference to Rule 16 of the Utah Criminal Procedure.

Here is a link to the "within five days rule" in Utah for those not familiar with details.

Mr. Skordas  appeared in court today only until the County can assign a lawyer to represent Robinson. Utah Judge  Kenneth Graff declared Robinson indigent but also used provisional.

Here in California, there is no rule, no deadline for discovery. In Humboldt, all a defendant has to say is they cannot afford an attorney. My reporting and watching out for taxpayers for 12 years documents live court coverage and court records. That is the benefit of independent reporting. That is a service I provided to locals and for the truth, faced consequences, intimidation, threats and anon smears.

Laws matter, a well run court system makes all the difference in reporting. Covering the Tyler Robinson case, California could learn a lot from Utah. I also covered courts in Pennsylvania and Georgia. Read my Robinson court coverage, my other posts on Robinson. See a difference?

Do I even have to say why Humboldt? Respect, professionalism matters. Giving credit to hard work matters.

I will be posting live and providing live updates first on other platforms and the blog will be the last to update and post. I will include details and exclusives previously provided for free to subscribers & advertisers. If Humboldt readers who only use the blog or Facebook want to continue to get that local content for free, they need to make it worth my time with both views and subscriptions.

The blog format worked earlier and for Humboldt. For a few years now, readers and viewers are choosing different platforms which works better for live reporting. Readers and viewers prefer summaries as everyone is busy and there are are so many options.

Readers in Humboldt where I have reported for 12 years have had the option to subscribe and support for 12 years my independent reporting and invest and compensate me for the time consuming content, the exclusives and the information not reported elsewhere. Those who support and have invested in me in Humboldt subscribe, contribute or advertise and read me daily.

I am constantly making changes to content and what works for all my readers. For now, certain details will be added to the blog but with Google not providing any support for this domain, I am looking at several options that work better for me, my advertisers, subscribers and readers/viewers who invest in me financially and support the work I do.
