Martha Katherine Quam arrested by EPD yesterday for PC 273d (a) physical child abuse and PC 243 (e) (1) domestic battery.
Quam aka Martha Katherine Kearon was arraigned on 9/3. Public Defender was appointed, criminal protective order filed and served in court, $20,000 bail. OR bail on 9/5; trial confirmation on 9/18; jury trial on 9/23.
She has a 2010 DUI conviction. In her 2020 divorce case against Mark Kearon there was a dismissal in 2022 of the restraining order, she was represented by Callie Buck. Gregory Kreis ousted by the voters and a former judge was assigned to this family law case.
9/5: Quam was granted supervised release.
9/18: Trial confirmation and modification of protective order continued by defense to 9/19.
9/19: At trial confirmation, the alleged victim was present in court. Judge Steven Steward granted Deputy Public Defender Emery Welton's request to modify the protective order since Deputy DA Andrew Truitt had no objection. 9/23 date was vacated. Trial setting is on 10/ 7.
10/7: Trial confirmation on 12/18/24; jury trial on 1/6/25.
12/18/24: 1/6/25 jury trial date vacated. Disposition reset scheduled for 3/18/25.
3/18/25: Pretrial on 5/20/25; disposition reset on
12/18/25.
5/20/25: She was arrested by EPD the same day a pre trial was scheduled in CR2402670 for a new charge PC 273.6(a) violating a restraining order.
Despite another 2024 case, CR2402670 and a 2025 case, CR2501092, the pre trial was continued by stipulation to 9/16. A disposition reset is still scheduled in CR2402670 for
12/18/25.
Another Deputy Public Defender Emery Welton case and defendant with multiple cases, repeat violations and no consequences.
9/16/25: In CR2402670 pre trial not heard vacated. Trial Confirmation on 10/8/25; jury trial on 10/13/25. Disposition reset date vacated. CR2501092 and CR2403432 same dates.
10/8/25: Motion to consolidate Quam's three cases off calendar. 10/13 date vacated. Quam
failed to appear, bench warrant issued by Retired Judge Marilyn Miles. Another Deputy Public Defender Emery Welton client ignoring the law. Defense claims Quam is an in patient program in Southern California; Deputy DA Frank Olivares objected and requested bench warrant be issued.
