"What exactly happened? You heard the D. A.'s case? is how Deputy Conflict Counsel R. J. Leohner started his closing argument to the jury in Elhadji Ba's case. Ba is charged with sexual battery with restraint.

"The defense rests on one principle," said Mr. Leohner. Then he spelled out the word transparency.

His style is unsual, definitely designed for psychological effect. Mr. Leohner brought up reasonable doubt, jury selection questions, made disclaimers, said he does not believe in personal attacks. He admitted what he was going to say was not evidence and that he was going to raise questions. Mr. Leohner mentioned  "holes in the case " and but after three hours, will argument prevail over the evidence provided by the DA?
