According to the Washington Post, Brock Turner is appealing his conviction and wants a new trial. One of the claims in a 173 page brief is "prosecutorial misconduct"

Hubris and more. Amazing what self-entitlement and money can (try to) buy. On the other hand,
ReplyDeleteif he loses, another judge could apply a much heavier sentence. Perhaps the pendulum will start
swinging the other way.
On a positive note, a (now retired, termed out) state assemblyman is now working as a private citizen against Prop 47. What he has to say about the initiative process is well worth reading and remembering:

(I just came across it...)
That was an excellent read.
DeleteIn light of one of his mentions, I'll take this opportunity to share another important alert sent by a few good Congressmen. (Thomas Massie and Justin Amash).
The reciprocity act, which has enough votes to pass, has been raped. Senators have added on 2 other bills that strips away the rights of citizens to own self defense tools at all, without court orders.
With these new bills attached to the main bill, they encourage every one to call their representatives and demand for the new addons to be divorced from the main bill.
I'll post one of the alerts in a separate post, in case it's too long for the blog.
Anon, please post your "find"
DeleteI'd support that.
ReplyDeleteGood find Gabriele.
