(Brittainy, Richelle and Tara)
(another friend Erik arrived later)
Brittainy, Richelle and Tara are in front if the courthouse right now, holding signs in support of the Pauls. They planned to stand out here for an hour or two.
As I was taking photographs and interviewing them, people driving by were honking so often that Brittainy said, "If people keep honking like this, we will be here all day."
The main reason they are out here is that they feel there has been no follow up after the initial coverage and headlines. There has been some coverage after the arrest and these friends feel that limited coverage has presented a one sided view of the Pauls.
David Paul is a "long haul trucker" and was not home that night, according to Brittainy. "They are two amazing parents and great people. This is an unfortunate event that they are involved in because of the people they were renting to," said Brittainy.
"They deserve to be home with their kids," said Brittainy.
Bail is only one factor, said Brittainy. "They don't know anything about the criminal justice system. They are trusting their lawyers, listening to them and doing what is best for them in the long run."
Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo is representing David Paul. Mr. Lawrence Killoran is representing Tamara Paul. Their bail is 1.5 million each.
Arron Mohr, one of their renters, is a co-defendant and is being represented by Mr. Benjamin Okin.
The case is illogical.
