"I want to grow this business to be the premier firm in Humboldt, Del Norte and Trinity Counties."

Joseph Stuart Conlin graduated from Arcata High then left to serve 15 years in the Army.

Before he joined the Humboldt County Sheriff's office as a deputy, Joe or Stu as most people who know him well call him, worked at Bettendorf Trucking.

Joe was with HCSO for 10 years. This September, Joe started a new gig as an investigator at the Humboldt County Public Defender's  office. All investigators at the PD's office "moonlight."

"After starting at the Public Defender's office, it became very apparent that there was a need for a full service private investigator business," so Joe formed Conlin Consulting and Investigations.

There are other local private investigators but some choose to only do criminal work, some only civil work. Joe has worked with many of his colleagues.

"I want to be the type of firm that offers services ranging from simple process serving to background checks; from civil investigations to assisting attorneys in a trial."

Workman's compensation, insurance investigation, infidelity/cheating spouses,  assisting in family court cases, site surveys for permitting and security consultations are other services Conlin Consulting and Investigations will offer.

"Being a local kid and having my contacts from a variety of sources, I want to grow this business to be the premier firm in Humboldt, Del Norte and Trinity Counties."

"There is definitely a plethora of former law enforcement officers that have reached out to me. Right now, it is just me, but I have people I can reach out to if there is a conflict in a case. "

Joe has done work for local attorneys and law firms already. He mentioned Neal Latt and Jannsen and Malloy as two examples.

"I have a job. I am not looking for dollars. I am looking to provide the services needed."

(The right sidebar features the business card for Conlin Consulting and Investigations. It has the business license number for the firm which is required. The ad is my thank you for Humboldt's 100% veteran owned business.)
