"We have the public trusting us to spend citizen funds in a fiscally responsible manner and in a way that benefits them."

Newly appointed Mayor Susan Rotwein is realistic about her role on Trinidad City Council.

Attending events, setting the order of agenda are typical duties. "The job of the Mayor is to run the meetings and keep discussions on track."

Where Mayor Rotwein feels she can contribute best is to use her business and management experience to assist city staff.
"Our city staff is small and they do an awesome job," she said. However, Trinidad City staff has different levels of experience. She hopes to work with staff to "run things more efficiently."

After the last meeting, several people came up to her and said that it was wonderful to see an " efficiently run, good business meeting."

Protecting public safety by working with the police and Office of Emergency Services; fiscal responsibility and making sure Trinidad is fiscally solvent and good, business management are the three  areas" Mayor Rotwein plans to focus on in her term.
